Tessa Metcalfe

Last December we went to London (accompanied by Poppy Spitfire) for a trip to the English National Ballet to see The Nutcracker. While we were there we were lucky enough to have an exclusive appointment at Tessa Metcalfe's amazing studio and shop with Tessa herself - a dream come true for us Spitfires.

We first met Tessa at Goodwood Revival in September 2016, and spent three months salivating over her beautiful jewellery before we got to visit her in December. You can see all her amazing creations here

Tessa's unique, intricate pieces are based on myths, legends and fairytales; she casts pigeon feet and sets beautiful stones to create 'narrative jewellery'. Tessa's jewellery prompts the viewer to look closer; from far away they look like exquisite pieces, but it's when you are up close that you see the full story.

Tessa herself is a force of nature. In December, her shop was full to the brim of jewellery in blue velvet boxes and gold ribbon waiting to be delivered to her eagerly awaiting customers all over the world. She very kindly took the time to talk us through some of her work and Louisa and Hannah both left with some Christmas presents to themselves!

We're huge fans of Tessa Metcalfe and we know we'll be adding to our collection as the years go on. It's nearly Christmas again so who knows what Santa will bring.

So hard to resist this beautiful work of art. Can you imagine being proposed to with this beast?  Photo Credit: Anna Harding
